Here you can find what type of fabrics we sell and what you can use them for.
Broadcloth or quilt cotton
A plain, tightly woven fabric that is usually made from 100% cotton or a cotton blend. Suitable for quilting and making clothes.
Broderie
A fabric with a pattern that is composed of round or oval holes, so-called eyes, that are cut out of the fabric and then tied with overhand stitches or buttonhole stitches. The patterns, often with flowers, leaves, vines or stems, are further finished with simple embroidery stitches on the surrounding material.
Canvas
A strong, durable, densely woven cotton fabric. Suitable for upholstery, cushions, bags, etc.
Chambray
A plain woven fabric that can be made from cotton, silk or manufactured fibers, but mostly cotton. It contains a colored warp (often blue) and white filling yarn. Suitable for shirts and blouses.
Sits of Chintz
A plain woven cotton fabric with a wax layer to produce a dirt-repellent, polished look. The fabric must be chemically cleaned, because the wax will be affected by washing in the washing machine. Suitable for curtains, cushions and upholstery.
Denim
A twill weave cotton fabric made with different colored yarns in the warp and the weft. Because of the twill construction, one color mostly blue, dominates on the textile surface. Suitable for pants, jackets and skirts. Pre-wash and dry before processing is recommended, as this fabric can shrink at least twice and bleed colors.
Double Gauze
A fabric that consists of 2 thin layers of soft cotton that are woven together. It is very soft fabric that is extremely suitable for children's clothing. The most famous example of double gauze is the hydrophilic baby diaper.
Duck
A tightly woven, flat woven fabric that looks like canvas. The fabric is usually made of cotton and is widely used in printed fabrics for home decoration. Suitable for curtains, upholstery and cushions.
Fake fur
Artificial fur made of synthetic material. Suitable for jackets and vests.
Felt
A non-woven fabric made of wool, hair or fur, and sometimes in combination with certain manufactured fibers, where the fibers are bound together in a process of using heat, moisture and pressure to form a compact material. Ideal for most craft projects.
French Terry jersey
A soft, knitted fabric with a soft front and a looped back. French tricot fabric is mostly used for clothing, tops and baby items.
Grosgrain
Grosgrain is a plain woven fabric with a ribbed appearance. This cotton blend or polyester fabric is shiny, soft and very strong. It is not stretchable and it is easy to sew. Grosgrain can be woven as a narrow ribbon or a completely woven fabric. The ribbon is very suitable as a finishing touch for cushions and bags.
Jersey
Knitted fabric made of yarn, all in the same direction. Some knits have their yarns along the length of the fabric, while others have their yarns run across the width of the fabric. Knitted fabrics are held together by looping the threads around each other. Knitting makes ridges in the resulting fabric. It is mostly used for making comfortable clothes such as sweaters, jogging pants, etc.
Lace
An openwork fabric with yarns twisted around each other to form complex patterns or figures. Lace can be hand or machine made by weaving, knitting, crocheting and knotting. Lace can be woven as a complete fabric or as a ribbon.
Oxford
A fine, soft, somewhat heavier woven fabric of cotton or mixed with fabricated fibers in a 2 x 1 baskets braid pattern of the plain weave construction. The fabric sits between cotton and canvas and is therefore very suitable for children's clothing and upholstery of a children's room.
Poplin
A fabric made using a rib variation of the plain weave. The construction is characterized by a small effect in one direction, usually the filling. The fabric has a larger number of threads per centimeter than cotton but is lighter than cotton because of the thinner threads. Poplin was formerly associated with casual wear. It is very suitable for shirts, blouses, dresses, skirts, etc.
Satin
A fabric made from yarns with a shine, such as rayon, silk or polyester. The fabric has a beautiful shine and is very smooth. Satin fabrics are often used as lining or for making costumes.
